Hi Everyone,
I’m so ecstatic to share our first black women’s reader discussion! Earlier this month, I gathered four readers of N3VLYNNN, to discuss my essay, “Janelle Monae’s Nonbinary Freedom & Self Love Journey”.
One of our participants offered the concept for this event months ago, so it’s my pleasure to finally bring it to life. Fellow Substack writer
also engaged in our discussion. This was an all-round wonderful group with great vibes-a rare opportunity and relief for all of us to be able to express our ideas in community. In honor of lesbian visibility day, I will be hosting a private community discussion on Saturday, March 26th @ 12pmEST for my black women readers.
If you are a black woman and you are interested in joining us for this event or other future events, please share your interest here. Once accepted, you will be added to a separate email list where you can register for exclusive events and affinity spaces.
I also plan to host other community spaces and workshops in the future for various subscribers, so stay tuned. 🌟
In the meantime, enjoy our discussion! The first quarter of the discussion is public, and the remaining 80 min. will be viewable for paid subscribers.
Themes discussed Include:
Our experiences navigating “Queer culture” as black women who love women
Female masculinity being uplifted in the culture only when a woman makes radical physical and identity changes to look male.
How Artists like Janelle Monae use Trans Identity to build their brand and distinguish themselves as unique, “boundary-pushing” Artists, while sending a poor message to youth.
The Colonial & Religious/Cult nature of Trans Ideology: drawing specific comparisons through modern sociology and historical examples.
Oppression Stacking: Trans Identity is en-vogue. We talk about how it is a marketable tool for clout, brownie points, and social protections.
Polyamory: How polyamory is packaged into Queer Culture, our personal experiences and thoughts about exploring bi and lesbian poly relationships.
Trans Ideology in Schools: Our personal experiences working in the modern school system vs. what it was like growing up in the 90’s and early 2000s.
Racist Policing of black women from Trans Rights Activists
Disingenuousness of white liberal thought: Wanting to rescue muslims, blacks, and “third world women” whilst not respecting our cultures & colonizing our homelands with transgenderism.
Enjoy!
