Happy Spring!
As I explore new ways of connecting with my readers, I’m planning some upcoming community events for my subscribers.
Aside from announcing what I already have in the works, I’d like to offer each of you the opportunity to share your interest in what you’d like to see, moving forward.
Affinity Spaces for Black Women
Firstly, as many of you know, I offer a variety of virtual and in-person community spaces for my black women readers. I’ve hosted everything from Brooklyn picnics to private discussion spaces, to public panels on my essays.
In honor of Lesbian Visibility Day, I am hosting a private virtual discussion for my black women readers on April 26@12pmEST. We will be exploring experiences and self-care strategies to navigate life as gender-critical WLW in the "queer" era.
If you’d like to participate in this upcoming event or any other future events moving forward, please fill out an interest form here.
Upon acceptance, you will be added to an adjacent email list where you will receive a private invitation to register for the events you’re interested in. If you are already on the list and you have expressed interest in this event, please check your email.
Also, I am very open to suggestions! The interest form also offers is an opportunity to shape what sort of affinity spaces you’d like to partake in.
For All Subscribers:
Substack has recently launched a live-streaming feature! I have never done a livestream before, so I’d like to try it out and host a Q&A where any of my readers can participate and ask me a question.
If you have a question you’d like to ask me, please feel free to write it in the comments section, and I may add it to the queue.
I am open to a variety of questions about my personal experiences, life journey, creative process, artistic works, viewpoints, publications, etc.
The date of the livestream is TBD, so I will announce it at a later date. If you can’t think of a question now, no worries. there will be future opportunities to write-in your question before I go live, as well as during the actual stream.
I also plan to host other types of events on this platform. Last March, I hosted a virtual film screening and discussion of my film, Reflections Unheard: Black Women in Civil Rights, which was very fruitful.
I’d love to share valuable tools and wisdom for unconventional women Artists who are navigating these times, as well as other discussions and workshops.
If you have any ideas for other themes you’d like to see in the form of community events, please feel free to share them in the comments.
I look forward to seeing you there. Thanks for your support! 🌺
I'd be curious to learn more about your writing/editing process
